It has been shown that austerity may save money for the state, but it does not help to create jobs or to grow the society. And it seems to destroy that which is one of the few things that bring the country and people income. The obvious is the loss of cultural sites and features that are immensely important to Western culture, and to Man Kind in general. It is sickening. Akin to the Taliban destroying the ancient Buddha of Bamiyan.
