Take marriage itself. Is it logical? People aren’t even evolved fully in their twenties and thirties as individuals, and this is the time they choose to partner up with compatible soul mates. Science alone tells you physical attraction can’t last. A person would never buy a car if he were told he had to drive it the rest of his life.

Seriously, this is put so well. Marriage is and always has been a social and public contract made for the retention of properties through inheritance. Religion has always been part of that process because the Church has always held dominion over landed interests. As a Contract among individuals and the state, Marriage and its many advantages MUST be available to all citizens. Period. But Marriage itself, is pointless. You may bond with your ‘soul mate’ in any number of cultural or personally inspired ways. FUCK THE GOVERNMENT.
